Vitra began as a Swiss family business in 1950, when Willi and Erika Fehlbaum started production in Weil am Rhein. The turning point came seven years later, when the company acquired the rights to produce Charles and Ray Eames’ furniture for Europe.

Jean Prouvé, Verner Panton, Isamu Noguchi, Hella Jongerius and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have since joined the collection. The furniture marries Swiss precision with bold, at times playful design: built to withstand both use and time.
