Artek

Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl, who set out to bring art and technology together.

The collection still rests on the L-leg, which Aalto developed in 1933 by bending birch into a right angle. Artek’s language is clear, functional and quietly poetic. The furniture is made to be lived with rather than saved. Alongside furniture, the collection spans lighting and accessories.
