GUBI TYNELL 9602 floor lamp, bamboo shade

Elegantly capturing Paavo Tynell's affinity for beautiful material combinations, the 9602 Floor Lamp is one of his most beloved designs. GUBI brought the 9602 back into production in 2018, offering lampshades in canvas and wicker. Recently, they added a third shade option: bamboo. This complements the rattan-wrapped stem, providing nuanced contrasts with the polished brass base and the conical crown of the shade. The bamboo variant involves a complex handweaving process, similar to Tynell's original aspen design. Sewn together in a pleated mat and fixed to a wire frame, the bamboo shade creates an engaging pattern of light as it emits a gentle warmth, enhancing the ambiance of any room.
